FortiGate Configuration Backup: Why It Must Be Automated

A firewall configuration is your network's institutional memory. When a device fails or a bad change lands, not being able to restore it within minutes means hours of downtime. This guide covers why manual backups do not survive contact with reality, and how an automated regime works.

How the automated regime works

Unna Controller pulls each device's configuration on schedule and stores it versioned. Every backup is diffed against the previous one, so "when did this rule appear" always has an answer.
